Project Overview
Coffman Specialties, Inc. joint ventured with Griffith Company for this major runway renovation of Runway 6R-24L at LAX Airport in Los Angeles, CA. This included the removal of asphalt, removal of Portland concrete cement (PCC), excavation, placement of asphalt pavement, placement of Portland concrete cement, airfield electrical including edge lighting, end lighting, threshold lighting, and signage that conform to NAVAIR and FAA requirements, Contractor Quality Control Program, and foreign object debris prevention. There was strict adherence to quality requirements for flexural strength, thickness, and smoothness. The work was completed while airport operations remained fully operational, and time sensitive schedule performance required high production concrete batching and placing within fixed time constraints.
